Our clients came to us with a small brick bungalow, a growing family, and goals of expanding their existing residence into a more spacious home. We were tasked with taking a 1950's bungalow classic of 750 SF on the main floor, and conceptualizing how to best expand without hindering the use of the back yard. The addition adds a dedicated master suite, laundry, mud room, and a large living/family room connected to an outdoor patio.

With the existing bungalow being brick construction, the rear addition allowed for the exposure and treatment of the existing rear brick wall, thus, providing for magnificent open existing brick wall in the main living area. Openings in this existing brick wall were carefully located to allow for front to back sight lines. As one enters through the front door, there is a direct view through the house, into the rear yard where the children may be playing.
