Story Book House
Our clients came to us with an old, decrepit 856 SF brick bungalow built in 1896 wanting to add square footage, and functionality to the home. Ultimately, only the bones were kept, as the home was completely gutted. BDB took this design+build project in full stride, and came up with a reconfigured floor plan, ending up with a 2 bed, 2 bath + loft space, which was achieved by vaulting the ceilings. An "attic conversion" by definition, the old attic floor was removed, and the roof was restructured to create an additional 400 SF of usable flex space.
A building envelope upgrade was performed, by furring in the exterior brick walls, sealing those with foam insulation, and installed new windows throughout. The exterior was given an upgrade as well, as the old brick was showing significant signs of wear. The brick was re-tucked, and painted to give the home a whole new look and curb appeal!
Affectionately being called the Story Book house by our clients, the name stuck, and the end product is a 1200 + SF new, 2 bed, 2 bath, functional and efficient single family home that will live on for 100 more years!
