It’s A Green New World

It's no secret that we are in the middle of embarking into a brave, green new world. It's becoming a more prevalent globalist movement to find ways to greenify everything via electrification and the use of renewable energy sources.

In conjunction with these efforts, BONSAI has been ahead of the curve of this movement through our mission to build 100% electric homes since 2013. 100% electric means we do not use sources like gas, which subsequently is a huge cost savings to not need this infrastructure. We design all of our structures to be high performance with very tight building envelopes that allow for superior energy efficiency. Building 100% electric also means we can easily make the jump to Net Zero for any of our current and potential future builds. Net Zero is a term used to describe a building that offsets 100% or more of its energy consumption on-site, which can be achieved in a variety of ways. Most commonly, especially in Colorado, we see the use of solar grid systems to produce energy. According to solarponics.com, "traditional buildings consume 40% of the total fossil fuel energy in the US and European Union and are significant contributors of greenhouse gases... Most zero-energy buildings use the electrical grid for energy storage, but some are independent of the grid." Aside from solar, geothermal is also on the rise as a means for conditioning and heating a home in an energy efficient and sustainable way.
