FIRM BACKGROUND
BONSAI is a bespoke Architecture firm that focuses on designing and developing high-performance, sustainable residential and commercial structures. We take a holistic approach to design and construction, inspired by the ancient Japanese art of BONSAI. Our success is evident in the quality of our designs and construction projects. We are also a General Contractor specializing in residential construction. Our Architect-Led Design-Build business model provides several benefits to our clients, including a single point of contact, reduced risk, a unified vision, a streamlined process, and faster project delivery.
We are currently registered Architects in the State of Colorado and hold residential contractor licenses in the City and County of Denver, Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, Arvada, Greenwood Village, and Jefferson County. Our design and build practices are fully insured with professional Errors and Omissions and General Liability coverage.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our passion and mantra is high performance design and construction. We believe that one of the most effective ways to create sustainable architecture is to breathe new life into an existing structure. We have vast experience in remodels, retrofits, restorations and renovations of historic and existing structures. Our knowledge doesn’t stop there. We also have a large portfolio of new design and construction that includes additions, single family, duplexes, town homes and multi-family.
Whether it is a simple remodel or a large scale, multi-family development, harmony with our environment is always on the forefront with every project we take on. Our staff is well-educated and trained in both the Biotecture systems and Passive House building science principles. These fundamentals are implemented into each design within a budget and vision threshold.

We pride ourselves in providing maximum transparency for each phase of the Design-Build process. We are truly an “open-book” Design-Build firm from start to finish.
Our Architectural Services are based on a turn-key, fixed-fee approach which makes it an understandable, manageable and transparent cost for any client. One flat fee for the full scope of Architectural Documentation and Entitlement service.
We manage every build in an open book manner. The cost transparency is shared and passed on. No mark-up, no hidden fees.
